EVE AND THE SNAKE

With each new exhibition Vjera Damjanović expresses complex and ever more complex concepts realised in a unique visual language. Her specificity in the current interpretation of legends and myths about the first woman Eve, the snake and the original sin, about angels and heaven, rests at the same time in a consistent use of the basic material – the fragile and frail paper, enriched with sensitive chromatic layers of quiet nuances full of symbolism. On the other hand, the novelty lies in different applications that lead towards a specific discourse. The entire conception is composed of various segments, systematised into equally symbolic numerical series. They are all based on equable technical procedures but have diverse, evocative and inventive contents: it is „the thought transformed into emotion“ – as the author says….
